Make maths and science make sense.
Personalised one-to-one Maths and Science tutoring for children aged 7–16, following the UK National Curriculum from Key Stage 2 to GCSE.
Many children work hard yet still feel lost: gaps from earlier years make new topics harder, word problems feel confusing, and exam questions ask them to apply what they know in unfamiliar ways. Lara helps learners rebuild the foundations, understand the why, and approach tests and exams with confidence.

Tutoring for every stage, from primary to GCSE
Key Stage 2
Confident number skills, times tables, fractions, reasoning and word problems, plus primary science. Support in the run-up to Year 6 SATs.
Key Stage 3
A smooth move to secondary school: algebra, ratio, geometry and data in maths, and the core ideas of biology, chemistry and physics in science.
GCSE
GCSE Maths (Foundation and Higher) and GCSE Combined Science or the separate sciences, including required practicals and exam technique.
Sessions follow your child’s school, tier and exam board, including AQA, Edexcel (Pearson) and OCR.
More than covering content
Good tutoring does not just repeat lessons. It finds out where understanding breaks down and rebuilds it step by step, so new learning has something solid to attach to.
The aim is a learner who understands why, not only what.
- Filling gaps from earlier years that make new topics harder.
- Clear explanations using diagrams, models and everyday examples.
- Problem solving and word problems, with a step-by-step strategy.
- Mathematical and scientific vocabulary, used precisely.
- Exam technique: command words, showing working and longer answers.
- Required practicals, graphs and data analysis in science.
- Revision, memory and study strategies that actually stick.

Four simple steps
Introductory conversation
We talk about your child, their year group, school and exam board, what is going well and where they are getting stuck.
Find the starting point
In the first session, Lara explores current understanding through discussion, questions and recent work, so time is spent where it matters most.
A personal plan
We agree priorities, the frequency of sessions and any practice between sessions, around school and family routines.
Regular feedback
Parents receive updates on progress, confidence and next steps, and the plan adapts as tests and topics change.
Support for different starting points
Tutoring is adapted for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), for learners who need to rebuild confidence, and for able and twice-exceptional learners who want greater depth and challenge.
Combine with cognitive skills
If memory, comprehension or problem solving are making maths and science harder, tutoring can be combined with our SOI cognitive skills programme.
